Regional Center for Western Europe and Africa. Furthermore there are Regional
Centers in North America, South America, India, and China. All these Regional
Centers form the IT organization of VOITH. In order to ensure a specific standard
among them, Competence Centers have been established. The Competence
Centers deal with back office, server structure, wide area network and local area
network, as well as clients and unified communications (Exchange, phone, and so
on). They are basically virtual organizations, comprising the best employees from
the different Regional Centers. Within these organizations, specific standards are
set, and roll-outs are planned. This method drastically reduces the presence of
“
island solutions”, by providing a homogenous structure among all 25,000
computers respectively users or work places, which find themselves within one
Active Directory Domain. In other words, this means that any user, who has for
example a notebook, can access the IT systems from anywhere in the world through
a secure virtual private network connection.
