Hearings in preparation of the GDPR

The Danish Ministry of Justice has begun its work with the Danish adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation (the GDPR) in close collaboration with the Danish Business Authority, the Danish Data Pro-tection Agency and the Danish Agency for Digitisation.

The adoption of the GDPR will imply that the present Danish Data Pro-tection law, which implemented the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC, will presumably be replaced by the GDPR in May 2018, except for those possibilities in the GDPR, where national legislators may adopt coun-try specific rules.

The Ministry of Justice recently invited the Danish business industry to have their say on the Danish country specific rules. The results of this procedure will be publicized in April 2017 before the Ministry of Justice will present the entire work and preparations for adoptions of the GDPR in autumn 2017.

Until then, everyone, including the Danish Data Protection Agency, is awaiting further guidance from the former Article 29 group at the Eu-ropean Commission (now the Data Protection Board)., while lawyers, auditors and consultants sell data flow analyses to Danish businesses.
